For those that wondered why we changed the name of the band or really liked our previous name Root 74, this is the best explanation I can give for why we chose to do this. So when we formed as a band and we were looking for a band name, John the keyboardist suggested that we be Wes Hoke Band since the music revolved around my songwriting and singing. I thought the idea was too cliché and unoriginal, so we finally agreed on Route 74 because the Route 74 sign was on the label of my CD and our first jam was at my dad's studio right off North 74. We thought it would be clever to call it "Root" 74 since we craft our music from roots music like blues, jazz, funk, etc...
After too many years of being billed as "Route 74", several years of barely performing due to raising 2 wonderful daughters into manageable toddlers, and having to update 2 websites and Facebook pages because of solo acoustic and separate band stuff, I decided it was time to be reborn/rebranded and basically start over. We really wanted to find a keyboard player and go back to the beginning of the sound we had back then but finding talented keyboard players are like finding a needle in a haystack. So we chose to add another guitar player. We've lined up quite a bit of shows over the next 6 months. So come check us out!
